Baseball Mogul Productions continues its Dead Island franchise series with the opening of Dead Island DC this weekend. Being a fan of repeated visits to its properties, will this entry be a financial success for Amyland Studios?
The last film, Return to Dead Island, managed only $127,191,687 domestically. Although not a complete failure, that amount required more to be considered a true success.
To stress the need for a good gross on Dead Island DC, Pedro has hired none other than Tom Cruise for the film. Appearing in the fourth talent slot, the actor's current Talent Score is 16.764. That means, if that stays the same until the end of the movie's run, the film will require a domestic gross of $167,640,000 to keep Cruise happy... $40 mil more than the predecessor. The ensuing fine would be around $2 million if the latest movie grosses the same as the one before. That's not a lot of money for a big studio.
But what if the movie does not do well? Cruise's employment could end up costing Amyland much more. With budgets growing more tight with each production, can the studio afford to make Tom Cruise unhappy?
Dead Island DC opens this Friday.

It's been pointed out by the producer of this movie that, since Mr. Cruise is talent #4 in the film, he will only need half as much to be happy. Tom Cruise fans can breathe easier now! :D
