Kevin Costner is being sued for an undisclosed sum by the artist of a statue commissioned for a park in HTG Hollywood. According to court documents made available this afternoon, Costner hired artist Paula Lindorf to create a statue for the ornamental pond at Godfather Park. The agreement was that if the statue was not at the park, the new location would be agreed upon by the pair.
However, two years after the large sculpture was completed, it sits on property owned by Costner.
"I didn't create the statue for the ego of a single man" explained Lindorf. "I wanted all of the residents of this city to be able to enjoy it."
In response, a representative for Costner gave a reason why the statue was not at the park.
"There's some old guy walking around, I guess lost. Mr. Costner didn't want old man spittle all over the work of art. So he's keeping it at his place until either the old man leaves or a new location is determined... hopefully without deranged geriatrics roaming around."
Costner's next work is Horizon Pictures' A Son's Revenge, which he directs. His only other directing job in HTG Hollywood has been 2005's Blaze of Glory.
