Scientists have been searching for a woman willing to give birth to a Neanderthal child. At last they have found that woman... actress Amy Sedaris.
The scientists wanted a woman to offer her body as a way to test the abilities of modern science to clone a caveman.
American geneticist Simon Templar said that he has been ready to clone a Neanderthal, but he needed a woman for the project, who could bear and deliver the unusual baby. Amy Sedaris read about the idea and said that she would do it. Templar was so ecstatic that he agreed to pay the actress seven figures to participate.
Sedaris, who last visited the big screens in HTG Hollywood in 2009, will receive an embryo with Neanderthal DNA, placed in stem cells. Templar stated that the actual birth would be much different from what women usually experience. The birth canals of Neanderthal women were significantly wider than those of modern women, so their babies did not have to turn to get in the canals. In addition, the head of a Neanderthal baby was larger than that of normal children.
But Sedaris feels that she is "big" enough to go through with it.
"It's a risk," explained a representative for Sedaris, "but she is willing to take it in order for fame and to recover her dwindling back account."
"Four years is a long time to be out of work."
The Sedaris Neanderthal is expected to make its debut in January 2014.
