Is He Really Going Through With It?

Ride 'Im!

When Jim Carrey offered to relive a role from The Red Devil with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, it was assumed that he would reprise a part of the title character, which Carrey voices.

Nope.

The actor allowed the host to ride him like a horse, much to the surprise of those on the set.

The Red Devil, produced by Lucian and released by Horizon Pictures, centers on a not-so-good prince in his quest for glory.

"It's pretty good prose" a movie fan commented. "At 10 pages, it's an easy, yet entertaining read."

The Red Devil is currently in theatres.

Another Actress for Drama Film is Hired

Another member of the Blood in the Suburbs cast has been located. Therapist Anita, who counsels one of the other characters and is in a relationship with yet another, will be portrayed by Allyn Bard (Rathus). Although not a big name in the business, Allyn has been cast before in HTG Hollywood, including the classic HTG TV series Dead Heat.

"She's got a Masters in Education" a representative of Miracle Pictures Studio commented. "She seemed to be a good fit for the therapist role. Plus, she's quite attractive."

Allyn first came to the attention of HTG producer Marlowe after he saw her in short films produced by real world Utopian Productions (operated by the Flip Brothers). Was that also a help in the casting?

"Hiring someone that RS has worked with couldn't hurt, could it?" added the MP rep.

Blood in the Suburbs, a Mad Scientist film from Tesla, opens on February 14.

More Dog Movies! More Dog Movies!

It is the most successful dog-oriented franchise in all of HTG Hollywood. And soon there will be a fourth in the series.

Miracle Pictures announced today that they will be bringing Grand Theft Dog Online to the big screen in the coming months. Penned by Baseball Mogul Productions, the films parody the Grand Theft Auto video games. Full of foul language and violence, the first three movies have made hundreds of millions of dollars.

"I guess they strike the proper chord with people" explained Miracle Pictures chief Marlowe. "Don't forget the sex. Lots of that going on, too."

Will the fourth movie feature the same levels of adult features as the first three?

"Probably" Marlowe stated with a sly grin. "But I haven't seen a draft yet. We'll just have to see."

Producer Inks New Deal, Endless Little Smokies in Contract

He may be one of HTG Hollywood's longest residing producers, but it's acting that has propelled Chris Harmer to the forefront of the city's minds. After starring in the successful sci-fi flick I Am Harmer, Chris has agreed to star in another film for Miracle Pictures.

Unfortunately for the numerous Harmer fanatics, the studio isn't revealing much on the new project, other than it's based on a franchise.

"Harmer as John McClane? Wouldn't that be cool?" pondered a local movie patron. "Maybe one of the SNL properties... Jake Blues? Drunk Uncle? that Conehead fellow? The possibilities are endless!"

Miracle Pictures has promised more details when they become available.

"That could be a year from now!" concluded the movie fan. "Argh!"

Short Drama Finds Lead

Emma Watson has signed to lead the new drama You Are Not Alone by Kaitlynn of Halliwell Pictures. Watson will portray a young woman who reflects on her life as she heads for a fateful decision.

"It's exciting to hook back up with Kaitlynn" a rep from Miracle Pictures Studio stated. "We had great fun and success with Tom Graveyard. Although this new one is shorter, we feel it still makes a strong impact."

You Are Not Alone, directed by Lars von Trier, will open on February 28.

Actress Joins Film, Enjoys Breakfast Burritos With Manicurist

Actress Connie Britton has been added to the cast of Blood in the Suburbs, the new crime drama from Mad Scientist scribe Tesla. Britton will portray the faded trophy wife of an ex-convict character played by Gary Oldman.

"We're really pleased with how the film is coming together" a staffer at Miracle Pictures Studio remarked. "At just over 100 pages, Blood in the Suburbs looks like it will be another hit for Tesla."

A release date has not been set yet, but plans are for some time in February.

Oops!

In an update to a story recently posted, Ship of Fooles Productions is not releasing a sci-fi film titled Him.

"Our bad" explained a Happening staffer. "Turns out Lucian was just discussing an episode of the Plastic Man cartoon series. Things went awry from there. Sorry. Perhaps we can post something to... distract... from the mistake."

Actor Takes Turn as Criminal in New Production

After the success of The Magician, releasing studio Miracle Pictures has been anxious to work again with Mad Scientist Films producer Tesla. The studio received good news when Tesla sent a new script for their approval, titled Blood in the Suburbs.

"It's about a man, just released from prison, who seeks money owed to him by a wealthy family" commented a representative of Miracle Pictures. "Gary Oldman will be portraying the ex-convict. We're really excited about the project and can't wait to see it come to life on the big screen."

Still in the early stages of production, Miracle Pictures is hoping for a release next month.

"We'd release a Tesla movie every month if we could" the rep stated.

Stay tuned to Happening as more information on this film develops.

EIC Updates After 12 Days. 12 Days?! Egads. And no Bieber Reference?

Inspiration is all around us, including in the works of others. After seeing advertisements for the Joaquin Phoenix film Her, Lucian Carter of Ship of Fooles Productions came up with the idea for his new science fiction work, tentatively titled Him.

In a post apocalyptic world, a man forges a radio from scrap parts and gives it a believable artificial intelligence. He grows greatly attached to the radio, despite having various life-threatening events go on around him.

"Sci-fi is an expensive process" remarked an HTG film insider. "But, knowing Lucian, he'll figure out a way to make the new movie on the cheap."

Still in pre-production, Him has not been cast. A possible summer release has been mentioned.

"Personally," concluded the insider, "I'd devise some sort of ScarJo substitute. But that's me."

Puppy Pleases Couple, Looking for More Movie Work

The Superman actor has a new puppy. Man of Steel star Henry Cavill and mixed martial artist-turned-actress Gina Carano recently bought an adorable Akita.

"We are proud to announce the newest member of the family!” the couple announced.

But is there another reason for the purchase?

"Henry's upset that he's not getting a lot of roles" a friend explained. "He's only been on the HTG Hollywood big screens two times. He's Superman! He figured he'd be in something every month. But that hasn't come to be."

So why the puppy?

"Pedro's always making those dog movies, right? Henry figured he could have an in by getting his Akita in one of 'em. I don't know if that's going to work, but it's a plan."

The Poop Bandit Strikes!

In recent weeks, an individual called "The Poop Bandit" has plagued HTG Hollywood with various acts of vandalism. According to Chief Carl Winslow of the HTG Police, the unknown person has used miscellaneous forms to spell out the word "poop" in different HTG Hollywood locales.

The latest is a stone spelling of the word west of the valley just off of the railroad tracks. It came to the attention of Winslow yesterday morning.

"I vow to capture this thug and halt these offensive markings of our fair city" the head officer stated. "I'm making it my top priority."

Others, however, are not so disturbed by the appearances of "poop."

"What's the big deal?" asked a citizen. "It's a harmless word. Poop. There. Nothing bad happened. Besides, why are they calling him The Poop Bandit? That implies that he is stealing something. On the contrary, he is leaving us priceless works of art. He should be rewarded, not punished."

The HTG Police ask that if anyone has information concerning this case, please contact them at the headquarters.

Movie Doesn't Meet Director's Financial Need, Settles on Extra String Cheese for Compensation

The third installment of the famed Grand Theft Dog series has left theatres. Grossing $149 million domestically, the amount is a decent number for many HTG Hollywood films. But for director Brett Ratner, it's not enough.

"That's all right" explained Ratner in a recent interview. "Sometimes that happens. I still enjoy directing all of those dogs. It's a hoot. Working with Baseball Mogul is a fun time and I look forward to doing it again."

Rumors of a new Grand Theft Dog film have surfaced. Will Ratner return to helm the show?

"We haven't decided yet" stated a representative from Miracle Pictures, the studio behind the GTD films. "It might be time to see what someone else can bring. Sure, Ratner does well getting those dogs to do what needs to be done. But who knows what would happen if, say, someone like Scorcese directed? We'll figure that out once a new production begins."

Soft Core Release Fills Gap in Schedule

With no film scheduled for January 10, would there be a second week in a row without a new release? Thanks to executives at Ship of Fooles Productions and Flip Brothers Studio, a movie, Becoming Joan, is now slated for that day.

But, according to the Society of Film Decency chapter in HTG Hollywood, the movie choice may not be a good one.

According to producer Lucian, "It's quite graphic. It's going to require a lot of editing."

Flip Brothers co-chief Ritchie Steven agrees.

"It's going to need a lot of editing, that's for sure" RS stated. "But we'll get it done."

"Why do these people think that they can cloud our theatres with smut?" asked a representative of SoFD. "First they advertise Buttholes. And now this? C'mon, where are the values that we once had? Let's get some family friendly releases out there."

Starring Stuart Townsend and Vincent Gallo, Becoming Joan is directed by Lars von Trier.

Singer-Actor Returning to HTG Big Screens?

Justin Bieber has returned to entertainment news as 2014 opens. Having been disappointed in not appearing in a late-2013 film in HTG Hollywood, Bieber reps are thrilled to announce that he is starring in a new action-romance movie tentatively titled Segway and Highway. Co-starring one-time girlfriend Selena Gomez, the duo were seen this afternoon filming a chase seen in the HTG Valley.

"It's a film with everything," explained a staff member of Bieber. "Chases, dancing, singing, you name it!"

When asked who the producer and releasing studio are, the rep remained cryptic.

"That's a closely guarded secret. You'll just have to wait and see!"

Stay tuned to Happening as this story develops.

Fantasy Film to Include Late Actor

Sirs Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen are working together on two plays in New York City. They’ve been consistently using Twitter with their delightful photos taken around town. We've seen them being "homies" forever, meeting Elmo and celebrating Christmas. Now they're celebrating the arrival of 2014.

January will also see McKellen's appearance in the fantasy film The Red Devil. Directed by Peter Jackson, the movie stars the late Heath Ledger, thanks to some computer-generated imagery.

Also featured are Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey, Emma Stone and Ron Howard. The Ship of Fooles production opens on the 17th.
