Normally the opening of a film is a cause of excitement and celebration. Unfortunately for HTG theatre operators this weekend, one new movie is causing the wrong kind of excitement.
"Is very unreasonable!" cried one of dozens of protestors at the premiere of Lumania, the Hollywood Film Fund-sponsored science fiction movie from Romeitaliano.
According to a spokesman for the group, many of the Chinese population of HTG Hollywood were under the impression that Lumania was a tribute film to Bejing native musician Lu Chung Hu, in the spirit of Beatlemania. When it was discovered that Lumania was actually about a troubled space shuttle flight instead, a loud protest broke out when ticket refunds were not given.
"It's not our fault that they didn't pay attention to the film's publicity" argued a theatre operator. "Posters, ads, news stories... What kind of fool thought that the movie was about some Oriental musician?"
Chief Carl O. Winslow of the local police force was able to get the fevered crowd dispersed after an hour of hosing from a nearby fire hydrant.
"That cooled 'em off" a bystander stated.
Lumania, the sci-fi film, not the musical bio, is currently in theatres.
